Gwen & Kate’s Library Presents: Novel YA Dystopias Flowchart!

Lately the YA dystopian genre has become increasingly popular with books like The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner, and many more. While I have read all three of these books along with many others on the best-selling lists, none of them really struck a chord with me. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about traditional dystopian and post-apocalyptic books that I just really don’t like (the futuristic setting, the science fiction elements, the usually predicable and similar plots are all possibilities). However, I’ve luckily read many other fantastic books that are more unconventional dystopias. These books combine fantasy, historical fiction, royalty, and humor to create more unusual stories, while maintaining the dystopian government or post-apocalyptic element. I’ve decided to launch this list as one of my first (of many more, I promise) flowchart/infographics! Please let me know if you like this new list format, and any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated.
