The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

Series: The Queen of the Tearling, Book 2

Genres: Adult/Young Adult, Fantasy

With each passing day, Kelsea Glynn is growing into her new responsibilities as Queen of the Tearling. By stopping the shipments of slaves to the neighboring kingdom of Mortmesne, she crossed the Red Queen, a brutal ruler whose power derives from dark magic, who is sending her fearsome army into the Tearling to take what is hers. And nothing can stop the invasion.

But as the Mort army draws ever closer, Kelsea develops a mysterious connection to a time before the Crossing, and she finds herself relying on a strange and possibly dangerous ally: a woman named Lily, fighting for her life in a world where being female can feel like a crime. The fate of the Tearling —and that of Kelsea’s own soul—may rest with Lily and her story, but Kelsea may not have enough time to find out.

Gwen’s Comments: I recently read The Queen of the Tearling and highly enjoyed it (review coming soon!!), and can’t wait to continue the 7-book saga with The Invasion of the Tearling! I am also, of course, waiting for Emma Watson’s movie to come out… but that is still far in the future.

Publication Date: June 9th, 2015

Have you read The Queen of the Tearling? What are your thoughts on it?

Gosh, I’ve never heard of this series, but it sounds absolutely AWESOME!! I’ve just got to add this book (and all the other books, too) to my Goodreads TBR & Amazon Fantasy Wish List!!

It is very good — but I wouldn’t describe it as awesome. Maybe the series as a whole will be, but the first book was pretty laid back in action and plot, and there was absolutely no romance. However, I will continue the series (clearly) and do recommend this book (I’ll be publishing a review in a couple of days).
Thanks for commenting! And I too am eagerly awaiting A Court of Thorns and Roses! ~Gwen
