Two sisters' reviews of Young Adult and Middle Grade books, inspired by their lovely library.
This month marks the one year anniversary of Gwen & Kate’s Library blog and actual library! As such, we decided to write a bit of an update and conclusion post, and announce some new updates to the blog, and a summary of what we’ve been up to in the past year!
First of all, we’d like to announce a new addition to our typical review formatting. We’ll be adding the book format that we read the book in (paperback, hardcover, audiobook, ebook, ARC, etc.). We hope this will make our reviews clearer, since most of those books these days are audiobooks.
Another new thing on Gwen & Kate’s Library is two new original features we’ll be adding sometime in the next few months (we’ll stagger their entrances based off how much time we have with school and all). These are:
Novel Nostalgias: Novel Nostalgias is a weekly feature/meme held ever Thursday here at Gwen & Kate’s Library, in which we look back and reminisce about dear books long-forgotten, either childhood books or just old gems collecting dust on your shelf. Bonus points for any really obscure and unusual books you didn’t expect to enjoy!
Along the Same Lines As…: Along the Same Lines As… is a weekly feature/meme held every Sunday here at Gwen & Kate’s Library, in which we provide a list of at least three recommended books with a similar author, writing style, genre, you name it!, to a popular or well-known book, either one provided on our blog (similar to Top Ten Tuesday’s method) or your own. A beginning list might include Graceling, The Selection, Cinder, Shadow and Bone, Grave Mercy, Anna and the French Kiss, The Book Thief, and more that you recommend (if you have any immediate ideas, please let us know in the comments)!
So for those of you just joining us now, in the past year (our entire existence), we have reviewed many books (see Full List of Book Reviews), made many book and photo collections, joined two features (Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday), made many new friends (see Spreading the Love: Blogroll), and I (Gwen) participated in a personal summer genre challenge these past few months (see the launch post, and conclusions post). In addition, we won two awards (The Very Inspiring Blogger Award, and the Liebster Award), received an exciting comment on a review from the author herself (on my post about Monstrous Beauty by Elizabeth Fama), collected a following of 75 people, and received nearly 3,200 total views!
We’re looking forward to another fantastic year! Thank you so much to our loyal viewers and followers, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
