I recently discovered this fantastic podcast episode on Stuff Mom Never Told You, a podcast from How Stuff Works.com, which also has Stuff You Should Know and our favorite, Stuff You Missed in History Class podcasts. The episode is titled The Literary Reign of YA Fiction, and discusses how YA fiction became so popular, and many other YA fiction-related subjects, from an adult’s perspective.

Let’s discuss! What did you think about this podcast episode? I especially loved the point they make about how there is very little crossover between LGBT fiction and other genres — for some reason, authors tend to keep their LGBT fiction in a contemporary setting, without fantasy or time travel or anything like that, which is something I have definitely noticed and wondered about before. Any other thoughts?
